We offer one of the largest collections of modern editions of works by one of the greatest French composers of the Baroque, Marc-Antoine Charpentier. These have been carefully transcribed from the original manuscripts. Many of them have not been published before. A catalogue of several hundred editions is available below.
Peter has also published on IMSLP a number of works by Henry Purcell, including church music and odes. Contact us for more information.
Canberra Baroque has the largest collection of cantatas by Georg Philipp Telemann ever made available in print. Scores are on IMSLP for eight Telemann cantata cycles, containing over 500 different works:
- the Harmonischer Gottesdienst cycle (1725) comprising 3 movements for solo voice, 1 instrument and continuo;
- its successor, Fortsetzung des Harmonischen Gottesdienstes (1731) (each cantata a 3 movement extract from the Schubart-Jahrgang cantatas below) for solo voice, 2 instruments and continuo;
- the Geistliches Singen und Spielen (GSS) cycle from the 1710s - Telemann's first cycle full of instrumental color, ambition and virtuosity;
- the Sicilianischer (Sicilian) Jahrgang from 1719-20, comprising 5 movements with a chorus and two arias, known as such for its pastoral oboes or recorders in every work;
- the Schubart Jahrgang from 1731-32 - the original (8-10 movements) cantatas were re-used by Telemann who extracted two arias from each for the cantatas in the Fortsetzung des Harmonischen Gottesdienstes;
- the Stolbergischer Jahrgang from 1736-37, 7 to 10 movement works commissioned by the Count of Stolberg-Roszla;
- Musicalisches Lob Gottes from 1742-43, 5 movement works written for two soloists (soprano, alto) and optional bass in the choruses; and
- Engel-Jahrgang from 1748-49, mostly 5 movement works for solo voice, 2 violins and continuo, but with added chorus, trumpets and timpani for festive occasions.
A ninth cycle, the French cycle of 1713-14, is also being published progressively following the release of CD recordings.
Lists of these cantatas (by Sundays in the church year) are in the files below available for download. The lists contain details of instrumentation. Instrumental parts are provided on request; continuo realisations are not provided.
